Fighting Homelessness Fitness Programme

A pilot fitness programme to help people experiencing homelessness improve their physical and mental health has expanded thanks to its success supporting clients.

Fighting Homelessness, a project created by Council supported accommodation officer, Rob Green, and Llanrumney Phoenix Boxing Club has been awarded £4,360 from The National Lottery Community Fund to continue supporting people on their journey away from homelessness.

The funding has allowed the project to start an additional training group at The Hangar Human Performance Centre on Penarth Road, while training sessions continue weekly at Llanrumney as well.

Some clients have secured permanent housing since the pilot project two years ago but continue to attend the sessions to maintain positive wellbeing and enjoy the social interactions with other members of the groups.
